SOCRA Washington State Chapter Meeting
presents

As conference season approaches, you are invited to a presentation on how to create more engaging poster presentations. It will take place Wednesday, June 26th at 12pm via Zoom.

Title: How to Create Accessible and Digestible Conference Posters: Introduction to the #betterposter.

Description: Have you ever attended a conference poster session where (1) there were text-heavy posters that took 10 minutes to read through or (2) you spent the majority of your time talking with a handful of presenters and had to race through the other 50+ posters? As a way to make science user-friendly, I/O Psychologist Mike Morrison redesigned the traditional academic poster via user-centered design to create the #betterposter. This presentation will identify constraints of the traditional academic poster, provide an overview of the #betterposter, and discuss how its elements increase the potential to facilitate information exchange.

Our presenter will be Vaughan Collins. Vaughan Collins, MSW, is a Research Coordinator at the School Mental Health Assessment, Research, and Training (SMART) Center at the University of Washington. They have experience working in the fields of developmental psychology (primarily mathematic cognition) and implementation science. They currently work on exploration, development and innovation, and methods training grants supported by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES). They have a wealth of experience presenting at conferences.
